The first Pulsar watch was released into the market place in 1972 by the Hamilton Watch Company. The technology involved in this watch inspired a contemporary press report to describe the source of the watch name as “those strange distant spinning stars which send quick and regular radio bleeps from our space.”

In fact, this watch was the first of its kind: the digital display and the electronic quartz with a light emitting diode (LED) gave it a radically new space-age look.
